Islam is a spiritual and cultural crucible
Islam is a spiritual and cultural crucible, assimilating and integrating various elements from the religious and cultural traditions that preceded or coexisted with it. This process of selective assimilation allows Islam to incorporate aspects compatible with its fundamental principles while rejecting those that contradict its doctrine.
This characteristic of Islam reflects its ability to adapt and evolve over time and in different geographical contexts. Islam has thus been enriched by various contributions, whether from previous Abrahamic religions (Judaism and Christianity), pre-Islamic Arab cultures, or civilizations encountered during its expansion (Persian, Byzantine, Indian, etc.).
This process of recomposition and filtering has helped shape the plural identity of Islam while maintaining doctrinal coherence. It has allowed the religion to develop and establish itself in very diverse cultural contexts, from sub-Saharan Africa to Southeast Asia, as well as Europe and Central Asia.
